Questions

Can I convert a YouTube link to MP3?

No. FormatJet converts files you already have on your device; it doesn’t take links or download from YouTube or other sites.

Which files can become MP3?

Videos in MP4, MOV, MKV and WebM, and audio in WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, Opus and AAC. Each one is encoded with LAME inside your browser.

Can I choose the MP3 bitrate?

Yes. Every MP3 page has a default and lets you pick another under Bitrate in Options. A higher bitrate sounds closer to the source and makes a bigger file.

Why turn an MP3 into WAV?

Some editing and broadcast software wants WAV. Converting won’t bring back detail the MP3 left out; it stores the same sound uncompressed, in a larger file.

Do I need a particular browser?

Converting compressed audio and video relies on the built-in decoders (WebCodecs) in a recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. WAV to MP3 works without them.
