About the formats
MP4MP4 video
MP4 is the most widely supported video format, used by phones, cameras and websites. It usually holds H.264 or HEVC video with AAC audio.
MOVQuickTime movie
MOV is Apple’s QuickTime video format, the one iPhones record in. It holds the same kinds of video as MP4, but some Windows apps and websites don’t accept it.
MKVMatroska video
MKV (Matroska) is an open video container that can hold several audio and subtitle tracks. Media players like VLC open it, but phones, editors and TVs often don’t.
WebMWebM video
WebM is an open video format made for the web, with VP8, VP9 or AV1 video and Opus or Vorbis audio. Browsers play it, and screen recorders often save it.
MP3MP3 audio
MP3 is the most widely supported audio format. Its lossy compression makes music about a tenth of the size of a CD, and every phone, car and player can play it.

Questions
Which video formats can I drop here?
MP4, MOV, MKV and WebM, the containers that phones, cameras, screen recorders and video editors usually save. Whichever you add, only its audio ends up in the MP3.
Why was my video refused?
A video with no audio track has nothing to put in an MP3, so the page tells you the file has no sound rather than making an empty one. Silent screen captures and some exported clips are common examples.
Does it matter which browser I use?
For most videos, yes. Their AAC, Opus or Vorbis audio is decoded by the browser itself through WebCodecs, so use a recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. If decoding isn’t possible, you see a message instead of a result.
Can I convert a whole folder of clips?
Add up to 20 videos at a time. Each MP3 is named after its video, and “Download all” saves them together as a ZIP.
