WAV holds uncompressed audio, as recorded. It keeps every detail and opens in any audio editor, but a minute of CD-quality stereo takes about 10 MB.
MP3MP3 audio
MP3 is the most widely supported audio format. Its lossy compression makes music about a tenth of the size of a CD, and every phone, car and player can play it.

Questions
How much quality does a WAV lose as an MP3?
Some detail is dropped, because MP3 is a lossy format and the WAV holds every sample. A higher choice under Bitrate in Options keeps more of it, at the cost of a bigger file; the default is 192 kbps.
Does WAV to MP3 work in my browser?
Yes, if it opens this site. A WAV holds plain, uncompressed samples, so there’s nothing to decode, and the MP3 is encoded by LAME compiled to WebAssembly, which needs no built-in MP3 support.
Will the MP3 keep the track title and artist?
If the WAV carries title and artist tags, they’re copied into the MP3. Many WAVs straight from a recorder or editor have none, and then the MP3 has none either.
Should I delete the WAV afterwards?
Keep it if the recording matters. An MP3 can’t be turned back into the original, because the detail it dropped is gone for good, so the WAV stays your master copy for editing or converting again later.
