Converted on your device. Files are never uploaded.

JPG, HEIC, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP or TIFF, up to 20 files.

HEIC keeps iPhone and iPad photos small, but Windows PCs, websites and many apps still refuse it. Drop a photo here and FormatJet offers the formats it can become, from JPG for sharing to PDF for paperwork. The conversion happens in your browser, so your pictures stay on your device.

Questions

What is a HEIC file?

It’s the format iPhones and iPads use for photos by default. It keeps files small, but many Windows PCs, websites and apps can’t open it.

Which format should I convert HEIC to?

JPG for sharing and uploading almost anywhere, PNG for a lossless copy to edit, WebP or AVIF for small files on the web, and PDF to send photos as a document.

Are the photo’s date and location kept?

HEIC to JPG keeps the date taken and camera details, and removes the location unless you untick “Remove location data from photos”. PNG, WebP and AVIF copies are saved without photo details.

How many photos can I convert at once?

Up to 20 in one go. The results download one by one or together as a ZIP with “Download all”.

Will my iPhone photos be uploaded?

No. This page only reads enough of each file to recognise it, and the conversion page it opens decodes the photos with libheif inside your browser.
