HEIC to JPG
Turn iPhone photos into JPGs that open anywhere. Nothing is uploaded.
Drop HEIC files here
Converted on your device. Files are never uploaded.
Up to 20 files at a time.
iPhones and iPads save photos as HEIC, which many apps, websites and Windows PCs can’t open. Converting them to JPG makes them work everywhere. FormatJet does the conversion in your browser, so it’s quick and your photos never leave your device.
About the formats
HEICHEIC image
HEIC (HEIF) is the photo format iPhones and iPads use. It keeps high quality at about half the size of JPG, but many Windows apps and websites can’t open it.
JPGJPEG image
JPG (or JPEG) is the most widely supported photo format. Its lossy compression keeps files small, which suits photos but not sharp text or transparency.
Converted with libheif-js, jSquash, Image engine.
Questions
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Each photo is decoded with libheif running in your browser, so your camera roll stays on your device. The counter under the file list shows 0 bytes uploaded.
Does the JPG keep my photo’s location?
Location data is removed by default, so you can share the JPG without revealing where it was taken. Turn the option off if you want to keep it.
Will the JPG look worse than the HEIC?
At the default quality of 85, most people can’t tell the difference. JPG files are a little larger than HEIC at the same quality. Raise the quality for prints.
Can I convert many photos at once?
Yes. Add up to 20 photos at a time and download them one by one or together as a ZIP file.
Does the JPG keep the date the photo was taken?
Yes. The date, camera and other photo details carry over into the JPG, so it sorts correctly in your photo library. Only the location is removed, unless you turn that off.
