WebP to PNG

Save WebP images as PNG, transparency and all. Nothing is uploaded.

On your device

Drop WebP files here

Converted on your device. Files are never uploaded.

Up to 20 files at a time.

WebP is common on websites, but many editing tools, design apps and older programs still expect PNG. Converting keeps the image pixel for pixel, including any transparent background. FormatJet converts WebP to PNG in your browser, so nothing you convert leaves your device.

About the formats

WebPWebP image

WebP is an image format made for the web. Files are smaller than JPG and PNG and can have transparency or animation, but some older apps can’t open it.

PNGPNG image

PNG is a lossless image format with transparency. It’s ideal for screenshots, logos and graphics with sharp edges, but photos come out larger than JPG.

Converted with jSquash, Image engine.

Questions

Does the PNG keep my WebP’s transparent background?

Yes. PNG stores transparency, so logos, stickers and cut-outs keep their see-through areas, soft edges included.

Will the PNG look better than the WebP?

It will look the same. PNG saves exactly what the WebP decodes to, so nothing more is lost, but detail that WebP compression removed earlier can’t come back.

Why is the PNG so much larger than the WebP?

PNG is lossless and stores every pixel, so photos come out several times larger than they would as JPG. If the image is a photo you only want to share, WebP to JPG gives a smaller file.

Can I convert lots of WebP images at once?

Yes, up to 20 per batch. Each PNG downloads on its own, or “Download all” bundles them into one ZIP.
