Options
Icon sizes

Images saved from the web are often WebP, while favicons and Windows shortcuts still use ICO files. FormatJet resizes your WebP into each icon size you pick and packs them into a single ICO, transparency and all. It works in your browser, so the image stays on your device.

About the formats

WebPWebP image

WebP is an image format made for the web. Files are smaller than JPG and PNG and can have transparency or animation, but some older apps can’t open it.

ICOWindows icon

ICO is the Windows icon format used for favicons and app icons. One ICO file can hold the same icon in several sizes.

Converted with jSquash, Image engine.

Questions

Which icon sizes are included?

The common favicon sizes are ticked by default under “Icon sizes” in Options, and you can add others up to 256 px. Whatever you tick is stored together in one ICO.

Will see-through parts of the WebP stay transparent?

Yes. Transparent areas, soft edges included, carry into every size of the icon.

Can I use an animated WebP?

Yes, but icons don’t move, so only the first frame is used.

What if the WebP is a rectangle?

The image is scaled to fit and placed in the middle of a transparent square, so it isn’t stretched. For an icon that fills the whole square, crop the WebP to a square first.
