WebP to JPG
Turn WebP images into JPGs that older apps can open. Nothing is uploaded.
Drop WebP files here
Converted on your device. Files are never uploaded.
Up to 20 files at a time.
Images saved from websites often turn out to be WebP, which some older apps, editors and upload forms won’t open. Converting them to JPG gives you a file that works with almost anything. FormatJet converts WebP to JPG in your browser, so the images never leave your device.
About the formats
WebPWebP image
WebP is an image format made for the web. Files are smaller than JPG and PNG and can have transparency or animation, but some older apps can’t open it.
JPGJPEG image
JPG (or JPEG) is the most widely supported photo format. Its lossy compression keeps files small, which suits photos but not sharp text or transparency.
Converted with jSquash, Image engine.
Questions
Why convert WebP to JPG?
Websites often serve images as WebP, but some older photo editors, upload forms and print services still accept only JPG. Converting gives you a copy they’ll take.
Does WebP to JPG lower the quality?
The WebP is decoded in your browser with the same codec used to make WebP files, then saved as a JPG at quality 85. Raise it towards 100 in Options if you plan to print or edit the image.
What happens to a WebP with a transparent background?
JPG has no transparency, so the see-through parts of logos and stickers get a solid background. White is the default; change it in Options to blend with where the image will be used.
Is the WebP image sent anywhere?
No. Decoding and re-saving both happen on your device. The counter under the file list shows 0 bytes uploaded and lists what the page did send, which is anonymous usage stats, error reports and page views.
