FLAC to WAV
Convert FLAC music to WAV for editors and players. Nothing is uploaded.
Drop FLAC files here
Converted on your device. Files are never uploaded.
Up to 20 files at a time.
FLAC is the usual format for lossless music downloads and CD rips, but some editors, DJ tools and hardware won’t open it. WAV stores the audio uncompressed and works in every audio editor. FormatJet converts FLAC to WAV in your browser, so your music stays on your device.
About the formats
FLACFLAC audio
FLAC is lossless audio: it keeps every detail of the recording at about half the size of WAV. Audiophiles use it for music libraries, but files are much larger than MP3.
WAVWAV audio
WAV holds uncompressed audio, as recorded. It keeps every detail and opens in any audio editor, but a minute of CD-quality stereo takes about 10 MB.
Converted with Mediabunny, Browser audio decoder (WebCodecs), Media engine (FFmpeg).
Questions
Is FLAC to WAV lossless?
Neither format discards audio, so no compression loss is added. The WAV is written at 16 bits, a CD’s bit depth, which means a 24-bit FLAC is stored at 16 bits.
Why convert FLAC to WAV?
Some editing apps, DJ software and hardware players don’t read FLAC, while WAV opens in every audio editor.
Can I convert a whole album to WAV?
Yes. Add up to 20 tracks; each WAV takes its FLAC’s name, and “Download all” gives you one ZIP. Leave room on your drive, because WAVs take more space than the same tracks as FLAC.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Your browser decodes the FLAC with its built-in decoder and FormatJet writes the WAV in the page, so a recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari is all you need.
