Converted on your device. Files are never uploaded.
Up to 20 files at a time.
TIFF is common for scans, archives and print work, but most browsers, phones and websites can’t display it. PNG keeps every pixel of the TIFF and opens almost everywhere. FormatJet converts TIFF to PNG in your browser, so your scans are never uploaded.
About the formats
TIFFTIFF image
TIFF is a high-quality image format used for scanning, printing and archiving. One file can hold several pages, and files are usually large.
PNGPNG image
PNG is a lossless image format with transparency. It’s ideal for screenshots, logos and graphics with sharp edges, but photos come out larger than JPG.
Converted with magick-wasm, Image engine.
Questions
Will the PNG lose any detail from the TIFF?
No. PNG is lossless, so each page keeps every pixel ImageMagick decodes from the TIFF. That makes it a better choice than JPG for scanned documents, line art and maps.
How does a multi-page TIFF convert?
Every page is saved as a separate PNG, which you can download one by one or as a ZIP. To keep all the pages in one file, use TIFF to PDF instead.
Does the PNG keep a TIFF’s transparency?
Yes. Transparent areas in the TIFF stay transparent in the PNG, unlike TIFF to JPG, which fills them with a background colour.
Why is there a download before my first TIFF converts?
The page needs ImageMagick to read TIFF, a download of about 5 MB the first time. After that it’s cached in your browser and loads from your device.
