Converted on your device. Files are never uploaded.
Up to 20 files at a time.
TIFF is the format many print shops, publishers and archives expect, and a PNG is often what you have. FormatJet turns each PNG into an LZW-compressed TIFF, keeping any transparency as an alpha channel, all inside your browser. Your images are never uploaded.
About the formats
PNGPNG image
PNG is a lossless image format with transparency. It’s ideal for screenshots, logos and graphics with sharp edges, but photos come out larger than JPG.

Converted with jSquash, magick-wasm, Image engine.
Questions
Is the PNG’s transparency kept in the TIFF?
Yes. Transparent and semi-transparent pixels are stored in an alpha channel, so cut-outs and logos keep their shape in layout and editing software.
Is PNG to TIFF lossless?
Yes for everyday PNGs. The TIFF uses LZW compression, which keeps every pixel, and images without transparency are saved as plain RGB. A 16-bit PNG is stored at 8 bits a channel.
Which programs can open the TIFF?
Any program that reads TIFF. LZW is a compression method all TIFF readers support, from desktop publishing tools to the viewers built into Windows and macOS.
Why does the page download something first?
ImageMagick, compiled to WebAssembly, does the TIFF writing. It’s roughly 5 MB, fetched once and then kept by your browser for next time.
