Converted on your device. Files are never uploaded.
Up to 20 files at a time.
MOV is QuickTime’s format, used by Apple’s video apps and by many editors and templates. If a tool asks for MOV, FormatJet copies your MP4’s video and audio into a MOV container as they are, so the picture and sound don’t change. It all happens in your browser, and the video never leaves your device.
About the formats
MP4MP4 video
MP4 is the most widely supported video format, used by phones, cameras and websites. It usually holds H.264 or HEVC video with AAC audio.
MOVQuickTime movie
MOV is Apple’s QuickTime video format, the one iPhones record in. It holds the same kinds of video as MP4, but some Windows apps and websites don’t accept it.
Converted with Mediabunny, Media engine (FFmpeg).
Questions
Does converting MP4 to MOV lose quality?
No. Mediabunny copies the video and audio streams into the MOV container exactly as they are, so no frame is compressed a second time. Only a stream that can’t go into MOV unchanged is re-encoded on your device, which takes longer.
Why would I need a MOV instead of an MP4?
Some editing apps, templates and Apple-based workflows ask for MOV, QuickTime’s own format. Since the streams are only moved into a new container, the MOV looks and sounds the same as your MP4.
How long does the conversion take?
Copying streams skips the slow part of video conversion, compressing every frame again, so even a long MP4 is usually done quickly. The file is read in pieces rather than loaded whole, and videos up to 1 GB work.
Are the title and artist tags kept?
Yes. If your MP4 has a title or artist set, the same tags are written into the MOV.
Do I need a particular browser?
No. Copying streams doesn’t need a video decoder, so the conversion works in any browser that can open this page.
