Scanners, fax software and archives often save documents as TIFF, which is awkward to email or open on a phone. A PDF keeps every page together in one file that opens almost anywhere. FormatJet converts TIFF to PDF in your browser, so your scans never leave your device.

About the formats

TIFFTIFF image

TIFF is a high-quality image format used for scanning, printing and archiving. One file can hold several pages, and files are usually large.

PDFPDF document

PDF is the standard format for documents that should look the same everywhere. It can hold text, images and vector graphics across many pages.

Converted with magick-wasm, pdf-lib, Image engine.

Questions

What happens to a multi-page TIFF?

Every page goes into the same PDF, so a scanned document or fax stays together as one file. You don’t need to split the TIFF first.

Why does my first TIFF take longer to start?

TIFF needs ImageMagick, a decoder of about 5 MB that your browser downloads the first time. It’s cached after that, so it isn’t downloaded again for later files.

How are the TIFF pages stored in the PDF?

Each page is converted before it goes in. Photos are stored as high-quality JPEG, and images with transparency as PNG.

Can I combine several TIFF files into one PDF?

Yes. Add up to 20 TIFFs and arrange them with the move-up and move-down buttons. The PDF follows that order, with every page of each file.

Are my scanned documents uploaded?

No. ImageMagick runs inside your browser, so scanned contracts, letters and records stay on your device. The decoder is the only thing downloaded, and the counter under the file list shows 0 bytes uploaded.
