For example all, or 1-3, 5.

Fax services, document management systems and some print shops ask for TIFF rather than PDF. FormatJet renders your PDF’s pages with pdf.js and writes them into one multi-page TIFF, all inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded, so scanned records and signed documents stay on your device.

About the formats

PDFPDF document

PDF is the standard format for documents that should look the same everywhere. It can hold text, images and vector graphics across many pages.

TIFFTIFF image

TIFF is a high-quality image format used for scanning, printing and archiving. One file can hold several pages, and files are usually large.

Converted with pdf.js, magick-wasm, PDF engine.

Questions

Do I get one TIFF or one per page?

One. Every page you choose goes into a single multi-page TIFF, in order, which is what fax software and many document archives expect.

What resolution should I use?

Resolution in Options starts at 150 DPI and goes from 72 to 600. Choose a higher value for printing or text recognition; each step up adds pixels and makes the TIFF larger. A long PDF at a high resolution can be too large to build in your browser, so choose fewer pages or a lower value if the page says so.

Is the TIFF compressed?

Yes, with LZW, a lossless method, so the rendered pages lose nothing more when they’re saved. Each page gets a white background, and its text becomes part of the picture rather than something you can select.

Why does the first conversion take longer to start?

The TIFF is written by magick-wasm, ImageMagick compiled to WebAssembly, which is a download of about 5 MB the first time you use it.

Can I convert only some pages?

Yes. Type ranges such as 1-3, 5 under Pages in Options, and only those pages go into the TIFF. A password-protected PDF is refused, so remove the password first.
