WebP is a common image format on websites, blogs and online shops. Turn PDF pages such as brochures, menus or slides into WebP images you can put straight on a web page. FormatJet renders each page in your browser, so your PDF never leaves your device.

About the formats

PDFPDF document

PDF is the standard format for documents that should look the same everywhere. It can hold text, images and vector graphics across many pages.

WebPWebP image

WebP is an image format made for the web. Files are smaller than JPG and PNG and can have transparency or animation, but some older apps can’t open it.

Converted with pdf.js, jSquash, PDF engine.

Questions

What quality are the WebP images saved at?

Quality 80 by default, which you can change in Options. Tick “Lossless” instead to keep every rendered letter and line exactly as drawn.

Can I choose the size of the images?

Set the resolution in Options, from 72 to 600 DPI; pages render at 150 DPI unless you change it. A higher DPI gives larger images with more detail.

How do I make a WebP of just the first page?

Enter 1 under Pages in Options, which is handy for a cover image or thumbnail. You can also list pages and ranges, such as 1-3, 5, and download them separately or as a ZIP.

Can I convert a password-protected PDF to WebP?

If the PDF needs a password to open, remove the password first. PDFs that only restrict printing or copying open and convert normally.

Can visitors select the text in the WebP images?

No. Text becomes part of each picture, so it can’t be selected, searched or copied. Link to the original PDF if readers need the text.
