MP4 to WAV
Save the soundtrack of an MP4 as an uncompressed WAV. Nothing is uploaded.

Converted on your device. Files are never uploaded.
Up to 20 files at a time.
Editing the sound of a video, such as cleaning up an interview or cutting a clip for a podcast, is easiest with a WAV. It opens in every audio editor and holds the audio uncompressed. FormatJet extracts it from your MP4 in your browser, so the video stays on your device.
About the formats
MP4MP4 video
MP4 is the most widely supported video format, used by phones, cameras and websites. It usually holds H.264 or HEVC video with AAC audio.
WAVWAV audio
WAV holds uncompressed audio, as recorded. It keeps every detail and opens in any audio editor, but a minute of CD-quality stereo takes about 10 MB.
Converted with Mediabunny, Browser audio decoder (WebCodecs), Media engine (FFmpeg).
Questions
What kind of WAV do I get?
16-bit PCM, the same bit depth as an audio CD, with no compression. Every audio editor opens it, which makes it a good starting point for working on the sound from a video.
How large will the WAV be?
Roughly 10 MB for each minute of CD-quality stereo, so a long video makes a large WAV. If you only need to listen, MP4 to MP3 gives a much smaller file.
Does the WAV include the video?
No, only the sound. The picture is dropped, and a video without an audio track is turned away with a message rather than saved as silence.
Do I have to upload the MP4?
No. The audio is pulled out and decoded inside your browser, so recordings of meetings, classes or family events stay on your device.
