TSV to CSV
Change tab-separated TSV files into comma-separated CSV. Nothing is uploaded.
Drop TSV files here
Converted on your device. Files are never uploaded.
Up to 20 files at a time.
Many databases, analytics tools and copies from spreadsheets give you tab-separated text, but plenty of import forms only accept CSV. FormatJet reads the TSV with Papa Parse and writes it out with commas, or semicolons if you prefer, quoting values where needed. It all runs in your browser, so your data stays on your device.
About the formats
TSVTSV file
TSV is like CSV but puts tabs between the values, so commas inside text need no quoting. Spreadsheets and data exports often use it.
CSVCSV file
CSV stores a table as plain text, one row per line with commas between the values. Spreadsheets, databases and almost every data tool can read and write it.
Converted with Data converters (Papa Parse, yaml, fast-xml-parser), Data converters on Workers.
Questions
What changes when TSV becomes CSV?
The tabs between values become commas, and any value that contains a comma or a quote mark is wrapped in quotes so it stays in one cell. The values themselves aren’t touched.
Can I get semicolons instead of commas?
Yes. Pick Semicolon under “Separator” in Options, the usual choice for spreadsheets that write decimals with a comma.
Will leading zeros and long numbers be changed?
No. Every value is copied as text, so codes like 007, phone numbers and long IDs come through exactly as they were.
My file ends in .txt. Can I still convert it?
Yes. The page goes by what’s inside the file, not its name, so tab-separated exports saved as .txt or .tab work too.
What line endings and encoding does the CSV use?
It’s UTF-8 text with Windows-style CRLF line endings, which spreadsheet apps and most import tools read.
